Love Potion Tank and a Maxi Skirt [Outfit]

Hey there! I recently went to the mall and purchased a couple summer-y things (for when I go to Florida in a few weeks) and wanted to share one of my favorite outfits so far! I got this Love Potion Tank at Charlotte Russe, and I love it! I think it would be adorable not tucked in-but for this outfit, I thought it looked better tucked into the skirt. There is a pretty big sale going on at Charlotte Russe right now, so maybe check it out if you are looking for summer items! Also, if you have wanted to try the maxi skirt trend, go for it! They are so comfortable, and they are very easy to dress up or down!
Sun in my eyes!

Sunday Social-Shopping and Style!

Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite store to shop at?
Forever 2, Express, and Charlotte Russe. All three usually have the cutest things, and lots of options! Express is a brand that seems expensive, until you see that they have special deals going alllll the time. Right now there is up to 70% off clearance there, and most of the time they do things like "$25 off 75, or $50 off $150." I think the deals are better than that actually.

2. If you could afford anything and everything, which designer brand would you covet?
I am not one to be into designer brands actually! I would have to say, maybe Michael Kors? I love so much of his jewelery, but wouldn't want to pay full price for it-unless I was rich!

3. What is your must have closet staple?
Skinny jeans, jeggings, and cardigans. Sorry Ashley, seems like I am stealing the words right out of your moth (almost). You can't go wrong with any of those; I have dressed up and dressed down cardigans and they pretty much get me through winter and fall at college!
Something like this is definitely right up my alley! I love her style! Via.

4. What is your favorite kind of shoes? (brand or type)
Boots in the fall and winter, and plain flip flops in the summer! My flip flop choices could probably be a little spiced up; pretty sure I usually wear a cute outfit and then boring, cheap flip flops.

5. What is the best clothing deal you've ever gotten? (sale or amazing find)
I don't remember exact details, but I know that once at Express, I got like 5 or 6 shirts for around $60. Mind you, one of those shirts was $58 by itself-so I was definitely taking advantage of some sort of deal they had where you could get like $50 off $150. I was so proud of myself, haha!

6. What is a style you'd love to try?
I can't really think of any! I tried and love maxi skirts and dresses, the high-low trend, and a few others. If I think of something I will update this haha.  I guess maybe crop tops with a maxi skirt? It looks cute and isn't revealing really-sometimes I have saw like a half inch of midsection showing, but most of the time it doesn't look too crazy!

That's all for now! Keep an eye out for my newest outfit post, which will be featuring a maxi skirt!

We're Going Through Changesssss

Hey there. So as everyone has probably already heard, Google Reader will be no more on July 1st. What this means I am not completely sure; but I do know that you should back-up your reading list by another method so you can keep your blogs straight! I don't know if Google Friend Connect will go away with Google Reader, but I  know that most people follow me via GFC. I have always had Bloglovin' as an option to follow my blog, and I highly suggest it! (Click here to follow me). It keeps your subscriptions really "neat" and "tidy". I also have the option available to follow via email. If you would like, you can always follow along with me on twitter, as I almost always link my newest post there! These are just a few options, but hopefully those that enjoy my blog will stick around! Don't be afraid to link your blogs below also! Do you have a favorite way to follow blogs? Let me know!

As always, thanks for reading!

Sunday Social (on a Monday!)

So I missed the bus by a day. Totally forgot to link-up for Sunday Social! What's wrong with me? This is like my favorite link-up! Lets get on with the questions:

Sunday Social

1. What is your biggest driving pet peeve?

When people text and drive…its like “I SEE YOU TEXTING…no wonder you’re swerving”. It can wait. Don’t text and drive and then crash and hurt yourself and others. Not worth it.

2. What is your biggest blogging pet peeve?

First, let me say that I am alllll about meeting new people, finding new blogs, putting your blog out there. I do it, so do others. However, I really can’t stand when people leave a comment that says, “I enjoy your blog…if you follow mine I will follow back!” Or something along those lines…I have had worse. But seriously, leave me your link and I will definitely check out your blog, but as soon as you say something that sounds like you only want a follow and not a real “reader”, then I will second-guess giving it a look!

3. What is your biggest general pet peeve?

Lying. I can’t stand liars, or all the work that people put into lying. You have one lie and then 15 to cover for that one lie. I also can’t stand drama. It seems like there is always something ridiculous and unnecessary happening around me, especially with family. I love my family and all, but sometimes it just gets to be too much, and I hate to say it, but some people just won’t grow up!

4. What is your most irrational fear?

I don’t think it is irrational, but my biggest fear is being in a terrible car wreck. Other fears include spiders, spiders crawling on me or into my mouth while sleeping, shutting my fingers/hand in car doors/normal doors (and then losing that limb or digit) and I have a major fear that I will wake up and an intruder/monster/ghost will be right.in.my.face.

5. Name 3 celebrities you'd want to have dinner with.

Channing Tatum (yeeessssss please), Emma Watson, and probably Blake Shelton. Blake seems pretty nice, and he is funny, so I am guessing he would be a blast to have dinner with!

Makeup Talk: Monave Mineral Makeup Review [Must Have!]

It's no secret that I love makeup...love love love it. However, I always go through phases where I become super conscious of what I am putting on my skin. I have never been one to hate on drugstore beauty products, but I do like higher-end products when I can afford them, and when the ingredients make up for the price. The past few years I have wanted to use more natural products, and I have experimented with a few different brands-but just can't settle on one I love, so I go back to the products that may not have the "safest" ingredients, according to websites, news story's, etc. With all that being said, I think its about time that I get back into incorporating the mineral products I have been searching for these past few years! This is where experimentation comes in, and today, I want to talk about Monave Mineral Makeup* (specifically, the Loose Mineral Concealer-Foundation).  Before I dive into the review, let me tell you something: YOU NEED THIS in your collection if you have combination to oily skin. I kid you not when I say I have literally never used a mineral foundation (or even a regular foundation for that matter) that keeps my oily skin in check and lasts all day. The only foundation that could even come close to balancing my skin like this does is the Laura Mercier Wet/Dry Powder Foundation. With that being said, lets start the review!
Sample's Packaging; I received the the light version of the Oil Control Humectant, the Loose Mineral Concealer-Foundation in the shades "Tan girl" and "Sandra". I also received the regular Loose Mineral Foundation in the same shades. For the review demo, I used the darker shade which is "Tan girl".
Scary!
The Monave website states, "This mineral makeup foundation formula offers more coverage than our traditional foundation formula for acne and rosacea sufferers. Its feel is creamier; the finish more matte. High in zinc oxide, it is beneficial to inflamed and irritated skin". I agree that the coverage with this is fuller, versus the regular formula. It also is more matte, and because of that, it is my favorite of the two. The traditional formula wears just as well, and still has great coverage, but I want all the oil control I can get! Notice how well it covered my sunburn-the before and after pictures are taken within minutes of each other-and it literally was just a small amount that I used to buff into my skin! Here is what I have come to find with this makeup:
-All day wear; I didn't necessarily see the brand boasting on the website that it lasts all day...but it literally last at least 8-10 (or more) hours on me, and that is factoring in the full shifts I work at my summer job (I work in a pizza restaurant as a waitress as well as a cook depending on the day-so you know that it gets hot and greasy in there!) It doesn't fade...I can easily say that it is a long-wear mineral foundation.
-Controls shine; I may have to blot one time a day with this, versus 2-4 times a day with other foundations. I do set this with my Mac Blot Powder, but even setting other foundations with that powder I have to blot 2-4 times, so I think that this was a pretty controlled "testing".
-Has SPF.
-Feels nice on the skin/doesn't feel cakey.
-One con: because of the SPF, in some flash photography I appear more "white" or "light" on my face in contrast to my body. This is something I find with basically any foundation with a significant amount of SPF, so you sort of have to pick and choose your needs when it comes to this factor! In the picture below, I used flash, but I think the camera settings were a bit off (sorry!) so you can't tell if there is a white cast or not. It definitely looks just as great on camera as it does in real life!

Full face of makeup with flash.
Full face of makeup without flash, using natural lighting.

Only regret? Not choosing a darker color! "Sandra" was a bit too light for my skin tone, while "Tan girl" matched me pretty well-but I started developing a tan from my sunburn (tsk tsk) and from my self tanner, so I wish I would of picked a sample I could continue to use a little longer! I have been packing on bronzer to make it semi-wearable with my current skin shade.

The Light Oil Control Humectant is also pretty amazing. I sometimes applied this before the foundation, and it almost works as a primer (as well as moisturizer!) The website states, "This formula does not have shea butter in it, and has a light, gel consistency. It blends very well with our mineral foundation for use as a tinted moisturizer. As with our original formula, it provides gentle, effective oil control throughout the day, helping to balance the skin's oil production, without drying it out. Natural botanicals delicately incorporated using a handmade process to ensure the best quality". The original formula does contain shea butter, so it is probably better suited for dry to normal skin types. The scent is fresh, and it makes your skin so soft once it soaks in. I think it is also great that it can be used to mix your own little tinted moisturizer!

To sum it all up, I highly, highly recommend not only these products, but the brand in general. Customer service was great, the samples are generous, and the products work just as they promise (which we all know doesn't always happen). If you have oily skin, I think you would love the Loose Mineral Concealer-Foundation. You could keep building up the coverage to what you would like, or use an even lighter hand than I did to keep the oil control properties but have less coverage. For dry to normal skin, you could also use this product, but instead use a moisturizer or moisturizing primer beforehand. This also applies to the traditional mineral foundation formula; depending on your skin type and the coverage you want, you could use primers beforehand that suit you, and use more or less product for the amount of coverage you want.

This is a pretty long review, but I would rather be detailed than to leave anything important out! If you have any other questions, let me know! I would love to hear your opinion!

*I received these samples for free, for consideration. I am not being compensated for this post, nor is anyone or anything influencing my opinions. I would be crazy not to pick this up in the full size products, which is a testament to how much i truly love this!

Thanks so much for reading!

High-Low is the WAY TO GO! (And on sale!) [outfit]

Happy Wednesday everyone! We are halfway through the week, so cooooome on weekend! I think I am ready for the weekend already, I know someone else out there is too! Today I wanted to share another one of my favorite pieces for summer so far-my mint colored high-low dress! I am all about being comfortable, and this dress is just that...it's so soft. I am pretty sure you should find yourself one too, not just because I could sleep in it because it's the softest thing ever, but because I think it is pretty dang cute & easy to wear! Also, some dresses that are the high-low style are really drastic, so this is nice for my taste! I honestly don't have too many places to dress up for, so most of my summer I will be keeping it pretty casual like this! I want to share a few dresses that are right up my alley, and definitely on my "I would like you in my closet list". This lace trim illusion dress from Nordstrom is kinda sorta perfect. As soon as (and if) this colorful aztec dress from Closet Essentials gets restocked in my size, it's going in my closet, or on my body, like every day (yes, I love it that much, MONICA restock it-or just go ahead and send one of everything you sell to me, that works too!) Polka dot halter shirt dress from Charlotte Russe, you deserve a hanger in my closet, as do you sleeveless denim shirt dress from Point Zero! If you all haven't noticed, I definitely have a lot on my want list... I haven't really been shopping for so long! I  guess we will just have to see if I end up with some of these :)

Dress: SO brand (Kohls-and it's on sale right now!) //  Sandals: Black Poppy (old-similar) // Bracelet: gift from a friend, it was purchased in Panama!
Well, that is all for now! Go snatch up this dress if you like it; I think I paid almost full price for it a couple months ago, but it is now on sale for $17.60. So now that I am all jealous that I paid full price, we can end the post :) Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday Social-ONE YEAR, WHAT?!

Sunday Social
Linking up for Sunday Social! Congrats on the link-up being one year old today!

1. What is your favorite Social Media outlet?
I heart instagram and twitter! I can't pick between the two! I would say I get on insta much, much more though! My instagram name is: kelseylenayy & my twitter name is: kelseylenayyy

2. Do you subscribe to any daily news reads? If so which ones?
I don't subscribe to anything...so I guess that would be a no! But I do get on yahoo and msn news each day...although some of their articles sound like a first grader wrote them and have no evidence or support to back up what they are saying! If you are ever bored, go to yahoo news and click on an article about any of the Kardashians...Oh my goodness you guys, people in the comments go crazy hating on them! It seems like most people on yahoo get on there for the comments!

3. What is your favorite magazine to have by the pool?
DefinitelyPeople Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Glamour! I don't have to be by a pool though, haha. I'll read 'em after work when I want to relax a little!
4. What is your favorite summertime song?
I seriously can't pick...if you know me then you know I am super indecisive. Let's just say that a lot of the songs you would hear on the Pandora station "Today's Country Radio" I love. I just recently started getting into country more! I know some of the following songs aren't really "summer-y", but I kinda sorta love them: "Just Give Me A Reason" by P!nk. "Stay" by Rihanna ft Mikky Ekko. "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy. "Boys 'Round Here" by Blake Shelton. I could go on and on. Just so you know, I love all types of music! From old bluegrass, pop, to metal!
5. What is the best summer concert you've been to?
Well I guess I am lame. I have only been to two concerts in my life. I need to get out more, haha. The two concerts I have been to, weren't even in the summer! Shout out to N'Sync and Sugar Ray!
