What I Wore (WIW) Lace Kimono OOTD

Have you ever bought a piece of clothing that turns into a staple immediately? I recently found a lace kimono at Target that has found it's way into 3 outfits already-I haven't even had the kimono for a full 3 weeks yet! It is safe to say I have a new favorite!

Outfit details: Shorts- American Eagle (similar style currently in stock)// Brown Tank- Old, Wet Seal // Kimono- Target (can't find the link currently) (similar ON SALE option) // Sandals- Forever 21  (no longer available) (similar option here) // Sunglasses- New York and Company

Hana Pro 1 Inch Flat Iron Review!

Hey lovelies! Today I want to share a little beauty secret of mine, which may not be news to many of you out there, but here is goes... I rarely used a curling iron to curl/wave my hair. There, I said it. I have always found that even with a ton of hairspray, my hair won't hold a curl...but style it with a flat iron? Curls for the whole day (or two!) I taught myself how to curl with a flat iron a few years ago, and I have never looked back! [If you are interested in how I do this, let me know with a comment or email!] Now, I have been through a couple straighteners over the years, and honestly haven't been too disappointed with the ones I get, as I research a lot before purchasing! With that being said, I was pretty excited when I was approached by the company Misikko, who you may have heard about for having the best professional hair dryers. I can't say I would want to say no, as a free product is a blessing if you are offered one, so I had nothing to lose...but I only go into these sorts of offers with a mindset of honest opinions and not being biased. Before even receiving the flat iron, Misikko impressed me with the statement, "all I am looking for is your honest opinion". To me, that is someone I would like to do a possible review for-so here I am, nearly 2 months after receiving the product, and with all the time I have had it, I think I have a good feeling for the product!

I received the Hana Salon Brand Hana Pro 1" Flat Iron to review. The site states some of its features are:
What I say about its features:
-My hair does seem to have more shine after curling or straightening with the iron (regardless of any styling serums or products before hand).
-I haven't used it long enough to really see if it slows down color fading.
-PERFECT for curling. I can't stress that enough! Also amazing as a straightening, don't worry guys! -It is comparable to my Paul Mitchell Express Ion Smooth 1.25 Flat Iron, which I have had for about 2 years. I think it is great as a straightener-and keeps my hair straight all day, I just liked it so much for curling that I want to point out that it is a good tool for that as well!
-The swivel cord is great for not getting all tangled up in in while doing your hair. I also like how long it is!
-The heat proof storage pouch and mat is great...I can't tell you how many times I have accidentally left a hot or warm straightener on my counter, and catching my mistake only after realizing there is an ugly mark where it was. Such a good idea for any flat iron/heat tool company to include this with a heat tool.
-The time it takes to heat up is more than 10 seconds. It starts getting warm within that time, but for it to reach the full level of heat that I would keep it at, it is probably about 20-25 seconds. This isn't important to me because even if any straightener took 1 or 2 minutes, I would use that time to do makeup or something. I did notice this though because my Paul Mitchell Flat Iron only take about 5-8 seconds.
-Adjustable heat is great for all the different types of hair textures-I try to keep it on the lower end for my hair type (fine to normal hair).

Overall, I am honestly impressed with this product. I would recommend it, and do think that the price is great for the quality you get. It also is nice that Misikko seems to have lower prices on many of their products than other venders do. Definitely check them out if you are in the market for a new heat tool!

My results from the flat iron:

 My normal, air-dried hair.

Straight: Not long after I cut about 6 inches off my hair-one of the main reasons I was so excited to try this iron! I knew having "shorter" hair meant being able to play around with more styles!

Curly: Taken a few days  ago! These curls are pretty "fresh" and haven't been shaken out or brushed through. Please ignore the fact that I can't take a picture of myself without cutting part of me off...hahah. I am terrible!

After flipping my head upside down and shaking my head side to side=looser curls! Love this!

I hope this is helpful! Be sure to check out their site if you are interested! What is your favorite heat tool?

Keeping it Casual [outfit] and a Little Change!

Hellloooo lovelies! I am back with an outfit post! I have been lacking in that department lately; partly because I moved home for the summer since I am on college break, and just haven't been wearing normal clothes lately (because I am at my job in a restaurant like 6 days out of the week!) and because I have wanted to do more makeup posts! Hopefully someone out there missed these outfit posts! I wore this to run some errands and just relax with family. The top could definitely be made to look more dressy, but I think I made it look pretty casual! Nothing too fancy or exciting, but that basically sums me up :)

Outfit details: Shorts: American Eagle // V-Neck tank top: Love Culture (similar) // Bracelet: Old // Sideways cross necklace: Forever 21 (similar) // Sandals: Black Poppy [old], similar.

I can always use a little posing in my life! :) Oh, and those shorts are not as short on me as this picture makes them look!
So this is a completely unflattering picture of me, and the sun is all up in my face-but...notice anything different?

Watch out for a couple new beauty/makeup reviews coming up!

Rock Your Hair by Michael O' Rourke Hair Products

Hey ladies! (and gents?) I have a fun little review for you! About a month ago, I was asked if I would like to give the "Rock Your Hair" line a try, which is a hair product line by Michael O'Rourke. Since I am someone that needs to know all the details, I looked into who exactly this Michael person was. A few things I learned:

1) He is a celebrity hairstylist
2) He also created the well-known "Sexy Hair" line (wait, what?)
3) He was recently given the NAHA (North American Hairdressing Awards) lifetime achievement award for his contributions to the professional beauty industry over the last 50 years.
4) A portion of all Rock Your Hair sales go towards supporting shelters for abused and battered women and helping them to start their lives again. (Well, you won me over. Love when companies try to make a difference).

Okay, after learning those three things I would be silly not to give something a try (literally nothing to lose). I emailed back and said I would like to try it out, and possibly review it. Here we are a month later, and I think I have tried the products for long enough to get a feel of how they really work! Below I will give a rundown of the full what I think about the products I got to try (for free-but I am not being compensated for this! Heck, they probably think I forget all about them because I waited so long to do this!)

I believe the shampoo and conditioner are sample sizes, while the rest are full size! Also, the packaging is a bit more pink; my lighting was off in this!

Size Matters Big Volume Root Pump: This product description is: "Aerosol Spray Mousse that creates volume from the root without weighing down ends. Humidity resistant formula that protects against dry & brittle hair". My take?

-Smells amazing. For me, I didn't think all the products in the line smell the same, but I don't know if they are even supposed to. In my opinion, this almost has a fresh cucumber scent, which I love! I have pretty fine hair, and I think this did a nice job adding a little extra volume. I did not blow dry my hair while using this though, but I did have my hair pulled up so my roots would have a chance to not dry flat. The volume I did get doing this seemed to hold pretty well.

Spray It Hard Big Volume Hairspray: The product description for this: "#1 AWARD WINNER! Customer Top Rated! Get Bigger, Thicker, Fuller Hair! Fast Drying formula locks in volume and keeps humidity out. Firm, flexible, workable hold with long lasting memory that adds instant shine.
No flaking or stiffness".
My take? -Definitely makes your hair shiny, I would totally agree with this. The holding power is great, and I didn't have problems with flaking or stiffness. However, it wasn't a "soft to touch" feeling either...if you are used to that in your product, you may have to get used to this. Not crunchy by any means, but if I were to run my fingers through my hair, I would know it is there. I used it for holding my "beachy" (which were still nice and beachy at the end of the day) as well as for spraying down annoying flyaways when my hair was pulled back.

Bombshell Big Hair Powder: The product description: "Get Bigger, Thicker, Fuller Hair! Backcomb In A Bottle with a Rockin' Fragrance. Explode lifeless hair, instant lift and volume. Lightweight formula, thickens hair. Talc & Micah based powder that liquefies to provide boost, shine and texture". My take?
-No idea who came up with the volume powder, but hey, it works. I am not one to tease or backcomb my hair, because I don't want to cause too much damage. If you are like me, then a product like this is nice! I found that it still added volume without backcombing, so I am almost positive that you would get amazing volume if you did tease your hair. I applied this directly to my roots, and sort of rubbed it in and then used my fingers to push my roots up. I also applied it to my hands/fingertips and massaged it in that way, and found that both techniques work. It is a really fine powder, almost silky in texture. Whoever was the first person to come up with this sort of product. you are awesome.

Big Hair Rocks Shampoo and Conditioner: The product description for the shampoo: "Fine, Flat, Thin, Limp Hair? Call Me!!! Provides luxurious volume without depleting moisture or fading color.
Vitamin enriched for strength and ultimate shine. Sulfate and Paraben Free formula is safe for all hair types".
Conditioner: "Weightless Conditioner that delivers maximum body, volume, and lift.
Sulfate and Paraben Free, Color Safe formula. Great for all Hair Types that need conditioning without the added weight".
My Take?
-Love! Give this a try ladies! Points for making it paraben and sulfate free! The scent that I am picking up for these is fresh/floral, and I think that is pretty accurate. To be honest, at first I didn't know if I would like this. It seemed to lather up differently than I was used to, but thinking back, I have had the same issue with other sulfate free shampoos (anyone have information about this?!) The second time I used this, I lathered the shampoo in my hands first, making sure to spread it out, then I worked it into my hair. I have really oily roots, that seem to get oily in hours. I do think the shampoo sort of staved off the oil for longer than normal. My hairstylist did tell me that volumizing shampoos would be more likely to do that. Long story short? This is good for oily haired ladies, or those that don't want your roots to be weighed down with heavy products.

Miracle Leave in Conditioner: The product description states: "Rock your best hair yet -Shinier, stronger, healthier hair -Soy, wheat and oat proteins to reinforce hair from shaft to ends -Replenishes moisture and shine to dry, color treated and chemically processed hair -Tangle tamer for all hair types". My take?
-Seems to do well at moisturizing hair, as well as detangling and adding shine. I can't say I noticed stronger hair, but it would not be fair for me to tell you one thing or another concerning that part of the description because I did not always use this leave in conditioner consistently. You will see below the outcome of using the shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner! Also, the scent on this is a bit stronger than the rest of the products.

After using the shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner. I let my hair air-dry, and this is the outcome.

Those are after straightening my hair. I used flash with the right picture. Definitely shiny and soft! Judge don't judge my face-making in the right picture...I obviously don't know how to take a picture!

I would recommend this line to anyone, especially those who want some extra volume, or have oilier hair. I didn't have any problems with any skin reactions, product build up, or anything like that. I do think this is a good brand, and would say that if you like the Sexy Hair brand, then I know you will like this! It has about the same price point, so if you are willing to pay for the salon brands, this would be a good match for you! The packaging is cute, the sizes are nice, and the results are great, so thank you Rock Your Hair for letting me try this out!

Spring 2013 Wishlist

Who wishes that besides fixing all the problems in the world, among others things, that you could get everything on your wishlist? Me! As I am a girl, and shiny, pretty, fashionable things are always catching my eye, I figured why not put together a wishlist! I am one of those people that randomly have a "shopping cart" full on an online store site-I mean I don't buy the stuff, but I just like the idea of planning outfits, putting together accessories, and imagining owning all of those awesome things if I was a billionaire! Let's do thisssss!
----------------Fashion

One: Love this top! It would be so easy to wear with a pair of white capris, jeans, or shorts...simple but cute!

Two: These earrings are something I would love to have! As a nursing student, when I go to my clinical location I cannot have certain types of earrings-and these are a pair I would be allowed to wear! I tend to wear the same pair of earrings for multiple days; I find a pair I love and don't bother to take them out! Most of my earrings are cheapo ones from Forever 21, and they usually irritate my ears-a pair like those would rock my world!

Three: Booties. You see them everywhere, but thats not why I want them! I am not one to rock heels...I just feel like I can't pull them off! But these, these look like something I could work with!

Four: Oh how I love the high-low trend. It's gorgeous...and this dress in particular has stolen my heart! I want plain, solid color ones too...but something like this I just wouldn't be able to pass up!

Five: Lace or crochet anything. I love this dress so much! It's not too much skin, it's perfect. I would pair it with a skinny brown belt or a long necklace, or just a good pair of dangling earrings. I could wear it out with friends, a date, or a get together. The options are endless and it seriously belongs in my closet!

Six: Printed jeans and leggings are catching on. I caved and bought a pair of floral jeans, which I am SO excited to do a post in the near future showing how I wear them. Now, I am on the hunt for a pair of polka dot jeans or leggings...preferably lighter colored, maybe pastel, but I adore a cute pair of denim ones! I have so many ideas of how I would wear them!

-------------- Makeup

One: Highlighter. Need in my life! Perfect for bringing light to your face, and making you look more awake! Spring is a perfect time to keep makeup more minimal and natural, and a highlighter like this would do just the trick in helping to achieve that!

Two: This wet or dry foundation powder. You have no idea how much I love this stuff! For as long as I have been obsessed with beauty, and the crazy amount of makeup items I have bought, nothing has compared to this! When I ran out I was literally sad-it's that good. Dear makeup angels, if you want to send a Sephora gift card my way, I will be grateful! I raved about it in this post awhile back!

Three: For lips, you can't go wrong with a sheer pink color for spring (and summer!) I adore this lip gloss in "bright pink"from Bobbi Brown. It's expensive for a lip gloss, but I love it! I am sure there is a cheaper option out there though.

Four: Keeping with a more natural make up look, a nice pink-coral blush is definitely on my wishlist! I have wanted this blush for over a year. One day I just might have to get it!

Five: This primer has pretty awesome reviews so far, and I am always on the lookout for a great primer for my oily skin...and with the weather starting to heat up in the Spring, you know this girl needs some extra help!

----------
This is about the extent of my wishlist. I mean really, I could go on forever! But, if I was granted a fairy godmother for fixing the worlds problems, and an unlimited amount of cash, you can be sure these would be the main products I cross off my list! So what do you think? Are any of these items on your wish list?

A Great Weekend-food, wedding dresses, and squid?

Hey everyone! I had such a good weekend visiting my hometown and family and figured I could share my excitement with you! First off, I went to the hair salon and got my hair fixed (fo' free) because a few weeks ago I had some caramel highlights added, but at my roots they turned a crazy bright blonde! So we toned that beast down. I really love it..it's subtle but noticeable enough for me!

Sorry for the terrible pictures haha

The super exciting part of my weekend was that I went dress shopping for my sisters wedding (I am the maid of honor)! She found a dress! I am so happy for her, and the dress is beautiful! She had one of those "when you know, you know" moments, and you could just tell how happy she was to have found it! The bridesmaids and myself also found our dresses, which are plum colored, one shoulder dresses (adorable!)

what they put on every brides dressing room door :)

After finding dresses, we went to eat at Buca di Beppo and I ate more than enough for a small family..yet I couldn't stop because it was delicious! I want to go back so bad right now! (show picture of food). I also tried calamari, which is crazy considering I don't eat any seafood at all, and I won't eat mushrooms. I guess squid is less disgusting to me than mushrooms? (What is wrong with me?! haha) To be honest it was actually good. I didn't eat the baby ones, which are whole and look like fried tarantulas (eeeewwww), but I did try the the ring shaped pieces. TMI for some people? Maybe. But coming from me, who hates seafood, I would do it again. Did I mention that the serving sizes are huge? The pasta I got was a small, which is meant to be shared between two people...Pretty sure it could of fed 4!

 Take me back for thisssss.

Huge brownie/ice cream/obesity in a glass dessert. We shared this, clearly!
We also went to the mall so that my sister could get a free engraved key chain with her future last name on it, from Things Remembered. She was so excited! It makes me want to have that special someone who thinks I am worth being with forever...[sappy sad thoughts for a few seconds] but whatever! I am so happy she chose me to be her MOH...and trusting that I could do it even though I am away at college! After all the fun stuff Friday and Saturday, on Sunday I drove to my dads to visit him, my little brother, and stepmomma. Then I had to drive back to college-wahhhh. End of my weekend :)

What I Wore!

Hey there! Here is a quick post on one of the outfits I wore recently! I mentioned awhile back that I had done sometime to my hair- surprise! It's bangs. I do have to say though, I didn't style my hair at all, I hate putting heat on my hair! So excuse it looking a little crazy in some pictures! I included links for the pieces of the outfit, so just hover over the text below pictures! This is what I wore:

Jeans: American Eagle (similar).

 Boots: Macy's (Brand: Baretraps)
Scarf and Top: Old Navy//Tank Top: Buckle
 Awkward Pose: Courtesy of Muah!

I hope this post gave someone out there some ideas for an outfit :)
It was definitely cold when I took these, so I hope I don't look too uncomfortable haha.

That Time I Wanted To Do A Beauty Post, & BANGS?!

Hey everybodyyy! So as the long, obnoxious title of this post suggests, I wanted to do a beauty post today. Seriously. SO. bad. I wanted to tell you all about my favorite lipstick at the moment! However, my camera doesn't care what I want to do! It's a nice camera, it takes pretty good photos, but when it comes to the colors of things-PSH. Pretty inaccurate, no matter what I try. Which bums me out, considering that is one of the things I want to post about most. So for that, I am sorry! I really want to post beauty related things, but I need a better camera so that my posts are actually worth reading : (   On another note, I need your help! This girl needs a change in her hair. I don't want to cut the length of though, and I just colored my hair recently. What's a girl to do?! Get bangs! But, I can't decide if I look better with out them. I mean I have a love hate relationship with them. Get 'em, hate 'em, wait for them to grow out...but I feel like maybe I should give them another shot. What do you all think?

Currently:

When I have had bangs in the past:
^Friend from school.
(You may notice a little something different about me here...an overflow of sorts. This was before my breast reduction-eek! More on that later, if that is of any interest!)

Eric <3
For the most part, my bangs have always been side swept, longer ones. Probably what I would go for if I got them cut! I know it's not that big of a deal, but hey, I still would like some input! Be honest guys : )

My April Faves

Well… I know it is a little far into May already, but I wanted to post about some of the things I was loving in April. Some things are tangible, some aren’t…but hey : )

1)   Laura Mercier Powder Foundation- I am in love! Boyfriend...watch out ; )
2)   Beyond the Zone Rock on Dry Shampoo- Let me just say this stuff is actually a good dry shampoo… most other brands I have tried either make my hair look even more gross, or leave a white residue that you can’t get out! With this, sometimes there is a white/grey residue, but it goes away! Really refreshes hair.
3)   Shorts! Like these - I bought a pair from my university bookstore; Nike brand with my university’s name on them. I love them sooo much, comfortable, cute, overall just amazing!  So when I was home recently, I stopped at JcPenny and saw the same style, for $10! TEN dollars! The ones I bought from my bookstore were $30! Needless to say, I will definitely be going back to buy mooooore from JcPenny.
 $10 for these? Uh YES!

4)   Tea with creamer… I already did a post about this; so yummy!
5)   SUNSHINE! It is so nice to just sit outside, and if I must, study!
6)   Nail polish (in general)
7)   Wearing bright colors! Anyone else with me on this? I love the trend- brights go with brights!
When I was at JcPenny I also saw this shirt-I took a picture to ask my boyfriend if it the shirt showed too much skin, but he did not reply fast enough so I did not buy it! What do you think? Should I have bought it?

8)   The feeling after turning in an exam. Knowing you can breath again, at least for a few minutes.

9)   My self-tanner. I love My FakeBake Flawless Self Tanner… I really do not want any extra aging if I can avoid it… so no tanning beds for me!
10) Last but not least- my boyfriend.  He is clearly a favorite every month, every day… but I just wanted to include him on here because I LUBBB HIM LOTTTTS ; )
Okay... maybe the feeling is not mutual?

 That is better : )

Any favorites for you from April? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Weekend!

xoxo
